Hubert Steed is a travel photographer who takes photographs of the places he visits, which include both city and nature landscapes across America. In many of his photographs he captures reflections, either in the water of lakes of rivers or glass windows in cities.
I have taken inspiration from the photographs below for my reflections project as I think the subject matter is simple yet creates very visually striking reflections on the water, and I like how he uses certain angles and the composition to make the surroundings appear in the reflection yet also how he uses them to break up the image.I also like how Steed uses shadows to create more dramatic reflections on the water and captures the vibrant colours.
Hubert Steed also specializes in taking photographs of reflections in glass, capturing two different subjects simultaneously. He usually takes photographs in urban settings, which creates a contrast between the background which is reflected in the glass and the object which can be seen through the glass, for example old chandeliers contrasted with the modern buildings of the background which is reflected in the glass, or nature such as trees contrasted with the urban landscape behind it.
