Emoke Szabo is a food, lifestyle and portrait photographer from Budapest, Hungary, who captures a variety of close-up photographs of fruits and different foods, which have given me the inspiration for the subject matter of this project. I like the compositional aspect of her photographs and how she takes an almost comical and creative approach to positioning the fruit, using the shapes to create illusions of other objects, such as placing strawberries in a cone to act as a bouquet of flowers or ice cream, or placing blueberries in a tiny basket to mirror their size. I also like how she takes into account the background of the photograph when positioning the fruit, choosing more subtle tones and rustic textures (such as wood) to contrast with the vibrant colours of the fruit. The majority of her photographs are in portrait to enable her to capture the full shape of the fruit to emphasize the lines and patterns, however in my own photographs I think I will mainly position my camera to be landscape so that I can zoom in and capture all the patterns and textures in the subjects, and I will also use more birds-eye-view angles so that the composition of the photographs is more clear.
