For this photograph, I increased the contrast which brought out the dark tones in the clouds, making the sky look as though on the verge of a storm. For this photograph, I firstly used the photo editing website 'Picmonkey' to straighten the building, employing the rotation tool. This made the photograph more symmetrical and visually pleasing. I then increased the sharpness of the photograph to make the details on the building, such as the peeling paint on the windows and the decay of the bricks more vibrant. For this photograph I also used the rotation tool on 'Picmonkey', but instead of making the building directly vertical, I rotated it more to the right to emphasise its height and give the building in the image the allusion of towering over the viewer. I then increased the highlights and shadows in the photograph to give it a gritty effect and bring out the dark tones of the cloud. This gives the image more texture, as well creating more interest for the left hand corner.

For these photographs, I experimented with my editing by adding a black and white filter over them in Photoshop CS6. I also increased the contrast to create a harsh, gritty tone; reflective of the run-down subject matter of abandonded buildings. |
